New Fashion Trends – Spring/Summer 2018
February is the month of the Fashion Weeks and therefore this is the perfect timing to talk about New Fashion Trends for Spring/Summer 2018. When it comes to trends, for me, it’s more about being creative and playful with what suits me than turning into a fashionista. It’s always best to keep with what suits your body shape, colouring and your unique Style Personality than wanting to buy an eclectic selection of clothes and accessories just because they’re trendy now. My objective here is for you to understand on how to recognize trends that are good to invest in, what you feel comfortable in wearing so you look stylish.
As always, if you have a small budget, an easy way to get some new trends in your wardrobe is by getting some accessories that you love. That would not clutter your wardrobe much and it will give a fresh update to your outfits.
Before we start looking at my selection of trends for this Spring/Summer18 I’d like to remind you the colours “in trend”. Why? Because it’s good to keep your new purchase within the tones/colours of your wardrobe so it will be easier for you to mix & match. Don’t forget the aim is to wear all the items in your wardrobe, especially if you have decluttered your wardrobe…(Need help? Watch my videos in my private group called Style SOS)
Main Colours this Season: Yellow, Red, Lilac/Purple and Pink
Let’s talk about Yellow! It is the colour that most of my customers dread but actually this trendy “mustard” yellow is perfect for all of you who have a “warm” or “deep” colouring (Check how to find out if you are warm or cool in my guide here ) If you love the colour but know that “cool colours” suits you best then get a yellow skirt or a cooler yellow which could be in the pastel range.
Gold/Silver are also in trend and worth investing if you love a garment or handbag as that’s timeless…
Retro 80 & 90’s “Leather” is back in a big way and as you know, I love leather or faux leather jacket as they are so versatile. You can also “double denim” white trousers and indigo shirt for example as that would look great. Versace prints are coming back in fashion and I have seen some classic print of "foulard" (scarves) or like the dress below that look brilliant at the high street prices to add a "je ne sais quoi" to your outfit!
# Voluminous Sleeves & shoulders on shirts/ Jackets & cold shoulder dresses/Tops are back but not the shoulder pads please! Great for a #LadyBoss look! By the way, an emphasis on the shoulders are great for all of you that needs to balance your body shape (talking about the pear shape here - if you already have wide shoulders then avoid that style!) # Pastels Last the pastels, big for accessories and coats/jackets and a fair bit in the clothing but I think there is more to come! Great for the sunny days and again very "wearable" for pretty much everybody although if you have a "bright or deep colouring" then don't overload your wardrobe with tops in pastels! Perfect colour coat for a Spring in England, looks very similar to Reiss which is more high end of the high street. More trends like the “mini bags”, “checks”, “Trench coats” are worth looking but for now, that’s I think the main ones you are going to start noticing as soon as we get some better weather!
