How To Choose Your Coat For Your Body Shape?
Winter Coats are definitely a key piece in your wardrobe as they show your personality and Style to the “rest of the world”. Ok you’re going to say that’s a bit dramatic Claire but it’s true! We all agree that coats or winter jackets tend to be the most expensive garment for the average woman. That’s why it’s important, in my opinion to stay away from highly fashionable coats (if you are on a budget) and choose a “classic” coat that will last you few years. You can then invest in a really nice flattering coat in a colour that will suit your natural colouring.
Let’s have a look at some of my favourite choices. By the way a lot of shops still have those items to shift before the Spring collection arrive in few weeks time so time to get a bargain BUT make sure you LOVE it before you splash your cash!
The great thing about that burgundy coat from VERY (£90) is that the colour is a great option compare to the usual black or navy. I love the “faux fur” as it softens the face but also act as a vertical detail which elongates. The belt can stop some of you if you don’t have a great waist but leave it open or attach the belt the other way and sow a couple of buttons. So if you love it and it’s your colour don’t get put off by the belt!
Other belted styles like this “classic” faux fur Leopard Coat from Karen Millen (£170) would be the delight of the most dramatic or adventurous woman! This black classic coat from Miss Selfridge (£40) with a very structured style softened by the velvet details is also really nice. Plus I love that belt!
If belted style doesn’t work with your body shape then the style of this Blue Wallis coat below will work for you. The price is now reduce to £40 so great bargain!
I love the Colour and the straight modern shape is great for most body shape. The vertical details and the buttons are great to elongate especially if you are short. It also has a fake waist which is pretty slimming.
This TOPSHOP Double Breasted Nude Coat (£59) is also a good classic choice for most body shapes but beware that it doesn’t wash you out if the colour is too pale for your natural colouring. The MONSOON Tamsin Crombie at £129 could be your answer as the purple is a much richer deeper colour. And if you’re quite busty or an apple shape, this shape will be great for you.
Khaki is in this season & if your bone structure can “take” the size of the pattern then go for it! It’s from OASIS or as an alternative, check this black and white check coat from ESPRIT, more classic and authoritative.
